Check the App Store
Updates come through the Mac App Store. Open the Updates tab to force a check.
Quick fixes to try first
- Quit and relaunch. Fastest fix for any UI quirk. ScreenForge keeps your work in the active project file, so you will not lose anything.
- Restore Purchases. If Pro or Power Pack is not showing, choose the ScreenForge menu and pick Restore Purchases. That asks the Mac App Store to re-check your entitlements.
- Confirm your Apple ID. In System Settings, make sure you are signed in with the ID that bought the unlock. Family Sharing does not cover Mac App Store in-app purchases.
- Check your AI key. If AI features are erroring, open ScreenForge, then Settings, then AI, and confirm your Claude or OpenAI key is set. Try the "Test connection" button.
- Update to the latest version. Open the Mac App Store, go to Updates, and make sure ScreenForge is current.
Frequently asked
I bought Pro on one Mac. Does it work on my other Macs?
Yes, through the Mac App Store. Sign in to the same Apple ID on your other Mac, open ScreenForge, and your Pro unlock will be restored automatically. If it does not appear, choose "Restore Purchases" from the ScreenForge menu.
How do I restore a previous purchase?
Open ScreenForge, go to the ScreenForge menu, and choose Restore Purchases. The app asks the Mac App Store for your current entitlements and unlocks Pro or Power Pack if you own them.
Where does ScreenForge store my projects?
Wherever you save them. Projects are .ssproj files, plain JSON. You can back them up, copy them, email them, and move them between Macs.
Do I need an AI key?
No, not to use the app. Most features work without one. AI features like headline suggestions, translations, and competitor differentiation require your own Claude (Anthropic) or OpenAI key. A limited demo mode works for headlines without a key. When you add a key, it is stored in the macOS Keychain and never transmitted anywhere except to the provider you chose.
What do the AI features actually send?
Text only. Headlines, subheadlines, the target language for translations, and public App Store metadata for competitor analysis. ScreenForge does not send your raw screenshot images to Anthropic or OpenAI.
Does ScreenForge work offline?
Everything except AI features and competitor analysis works offline. Exports, themes, device frames, typography, brand kits, and project editing all run locally on your Mac.
How do I request a refund?
Apple handles refunds for all Mac App Store purchases. The fastest path is reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple denies a refund and you believe you deserve one, email us and we will look at it personally.
My export is cut off or the wrong size.
Check the export size dropdown in the inspector and match it to the target platform. The Free tier only exports iPhone 6.7 inch. If you need every device size plus social and Google Play, that unlocks with Pro.
How do I update the app?
The Mac App Store manages updates automatically. To trigger a manual check, open the App Store app, go to the Updates tab, and let it scan.
System requirements?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Any Mac made in the last several years will run it well. ScreenForge is signed, notarized, and sandboxed.
I want to delete my data.
Because ScreenForge does not store data on our servers, there is no account to delete. To clear everything locally: delete your .ssproj files, remove the app, and optionally remove any API keys from Keychain Access. That is it.
