ScreenForge Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
The short version. ScreenForge is a local-first Mac app. Your projects, preferences, and API keys stay on your Mac. ScreenForge does not have a cloud backend, an account system, or telemetry. We do not collect personal information, and we do not profile you.
Everything below explains the narrow edges where data does leave your device, and only because you asked it to.
1. Who we are
ScreenForge is made by Intrigue MMC LLC, operating as Intriguing Insight. You can reach us at support@screenforge.app.
2. What ScreenForge stores on your Mac
- Project files (.ssproj). Your designs are saved as JSON files wherever you choose on disk. You control these files the same way you control any document.
- Preferences. UI settings, default export format, theme choice, counters for your daily AI limit, and whether you have finished onboarding. Stored in the standard macOS user preferences database (UserDefaults).
- API keys. If you add a Claude (Anthropic) or OpenAI key to unlock AI features, it is stored in the macOS Keychain with kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly. ScreenForge reads your key only when calling the provider you configured.
- App Store Connect credentials. If you use the Power Pack direct-upload feature, the Issuer ID, Key ID, and private key you enter are stored in Keychain. They are sent only to Apple's App Store Connect API.
- Usage counters. ScreenForge keeps small local counters (exports, AI calls, paywall views) on your device to enforce daily limits and feature gating. These counters are never transmitted.
3. Data that leaves your Mac, and only if you ask
- Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI. When you use AI features such as headline suggestions, translations, or competitor differentiation, ScreenForge sends the relevant text to the provider you configured. Requests use your own API key and go directly from your Mac to Anthropic or OpenAI. We do not see, log, or proxy these requests. ScreenForge does not send raw screenshot images to these providers; only the text you or the app has written.
- Apple iTunes Lookup API. If you use Competitor Analysis, ScreenForge sends the public app ID you provided to itunes.apple.com/lookup and downloads the public screenshots Apple returns. No personal data is sent.
- User-provided URLs. If you use the Brand Kit extractor on a URL, ScreenForge fetches that URL's HTML once, extracts brand colors locally, and does not transmit the result anywhere else.
- App Store Connect. If you upload screenshots directly to App Store Connect (Power Pack tier), ScreenForge sends the files and your credentials only to Apple's App Store Connect API.
The Mac App Store version of ScreenForge does not include the Sparkle update framework. Updates come from the Mac App Store only.
4. What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-up, or login.
- No cloud storage of your projects or screenshots.
- No telemetry, crash reporting, or product analytics.
- No advertising, ad identifiers, or third-party trackers.
- No sale or sharing of personal data.
- No training of AI models on your content by us.
5. Third-party providers you may choose to use
AI features are powered by providers you configure with your own key. When you use them, their privacy terms apply to that request:
- Anthropic — see anthropic.com/legal/privacy
- OpenAI — see openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- Apple — for App Store billing, updates, and App Store Connect uploads; see apple.com/legal/privacy
ScreenForge has no other embedded third-party SDKs, analytics, advertising, or networking services.
6. Purchases and receipts
ScreenForge sells Pro and Power Pack as one-time in-app purchases through the Mac App Store using Apple StoreKit. Apple processes your payment and receipt. We never see your credit card or Apple ID. StoreKit tells the app whether your purchase is entitled, and that is all we use it for.
7. App Sandbox
ScreenForge runs inside the macOS App Sandbox. It can read and write only the files you explicitly open or save, plus files in your Downloads folder for exports. It has outbound network access for the features described above. It cannot run as a server, send Apple Events to other apps, or read data outside what you give it.
8. Privacy manifest
ScreenForge includes a Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy). It declares Other User Content (the headlines and translation text you send to your chosen AI provider) as the only collected data type. It is linked to you only because it travels with your API key, is not used for tracking, and serves only app functionality. ScreenForge sets NSPrivacyTracking to false and declares no tracking domains.
9. Your rights
Because ScreenForge does not hold your data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. To remove your data, delete your project files, clear the app's preferences, and remove any stored API keys in Keychain Access. Uninstalling the app removes its sandbox container.
If you believe we are holding personal data about you in error, write to support@screenforge.app and we will help.
10. Children
ScreenForge is a professional tool for app developers and marketers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, when meaningful, call it out in the next app release notes. Older versions of ScreenForge continue to behave exactly as their own release notes describe.
